I downloaded Mozilla Thunderbird a few months ago and still don't know how to set up and use it.
(I also don't know how to set up and use Outlook Express either)
Can anyone tell me how to use it in layman's terms please?

Most email programs will import all your old settings, example if you used Outlook Express or Microsoft Outlook before start Thunderbird when its installed and it will automatically import your settings, did with mine anyway. But it looks like as if you just use webmail to access your email account, no prob. Then you should go to the Tools -> Account Settings and then Add Account in the Thunderbird menu. There you will need to input the settings of your internet provider or whomever your email is setup with, if you dont know these, someone here will let u know, or they are available on eircom.net support page or whoever. Hope that helps :)

You'll need a POP3 email account first. Who is your ISP? I think eircom and utvinternet give free POP3 accounts.

As do Esat/IOL, and your mobile network provider also.

You can use a hotmail account with Thunderbird. It just takes a bit of extra effort.

    Download Blue HttpMail: http://bhttpmail.sourceforge.net/

You just setting it running as a service and it lets you get your hotmail mail through Thunderbird.

    My email is omnicorp@eircom.net
    I also have a few @irishdirectory365.com aswell.
I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO SET UP ANY EMAIL THING. INCLUDING OUTLOOK.
BASING YOUR INSTRUCTIONS ON THAT WILL NOT HELP.

It's a step by step wizzard. There's nothing difficult about it. Basically what you need to know is eircoms pop3 and smtp addresses. A quick google tells me it's mail1.eircom.net. Go to Thunderbird. Click File>New>Account and fill in the details it asks for.

Well, who knew that Eircom would have all the details you need on their website? All there for Outlook, but just find the same details in the Account Details of Thunderbird.

its mail1.eircom.net alright, but it also depends on your internet package. Flat rate accounts are mail2.eircom.net, pay as you go is mail1
