I think this might be in the wrong forum, but...

I am being charged 42% tax on my pay, as emergancy tax.

Now, I have read that you can claim this back, but I have no Idea how, or how long it takes.

Also, do I need my Tax Code from Form 12A?

I was on Emergancy tax for approx 6 weeks, had to make a few phone clals to tax office and employer to get them talking to each other but once it was sorted, I got the tax overpaid back in my next pay packet.

Would advise giving the tax office a call because have heard a few scenarios where they havent received notice yet you are working for a new employer! (My case anyway), they told me to call back with employers registration number etc and then sent out new tax notice form to them directly.
