    Hi folks,
Here's the details of the UCD Intervarsity on 19th Feb.
Hopefully all clubs can bring as many as they want, but we''l say for the moment approx max of 12. Please email us with estimates of numbers and categories asap. - ucdarchery@dublin.ie

Group 1 - Shooting at 10.00 - UCD, DCU, DIT, NUIM

Group 2 - Shooting at 12.00 - GMIT, UL, NUIG, Carlow IT.

Other clubs (those with 1 person shooting) can choose whichever they prefer.

We have heard rumours that there may be compounds and that these may be counted towards team score. Let us know! If there are, proposed scoring is 6-10, with inner circle being 10 and other gold 9. Any objections to this, please voice them now.

Entry fee is €7 per archer.

Hope to hear from you all soon.

Don't think I've much problem with compounds per se but if they are going to be allowed then perhaps they should be limited to one compound archer per team (assuming they would normally make the team - if more than one then clearly the highest score compound archer is included). I'm only thinking in terms of that team shoot that's held in January. 3 archers, max of 1 compound I do believe.

It was 2 compounds max per team.

I think that it was agreed that we would also let in two compounds.
The fact that there 10s are smaller and have no 5's and below things should be even..

Dermot's proposed set of intervarsity rules say that only one compound score can count towards team score. I know this probably won't cause any problems at UCD Intervarsity but it's probably best (and only fair) to have clear cut rules before a problem arises.
So what's the verdict then - one or two compounds counting towards team score??

At the Carlow Intervarsity there was a discussion between alot of the more expereinced archers about this, including Dermot. As there is only one compound at the moment then 1 per team will be ok. But I dont think there should be any problems with having two. They wont be miles ahead of the rest of us, at the Irish open in January the DIT team and UCD team bet lots of compound archers during the shoot offs, and these are guys that can shoot 1250+ outdoors. Indoors is hard for a compound archer because the 10 is so small.

I know that it was handicaped but after 6 arrows myself and Trig were only a few points behind these realy experienced compound archers.

At the moment leave it at 1, there is no point arguing now when there might not be another for a few years...
