The fcuking garda chopper is out waking up everyone in my house for the 2nd time in a week, they shouldnt be allowed fly so low so late at nite utterly disgraceful it is.

we have had it down here on occasion whenever one scumbag tries to kill another scumbag. dont see why the rest of the city should be kept awake because someone wants to rid the world of a scumbag to be honest.

i just remembered that i was woken twice by it... please confirm this as i'm not so sure on dream/reality lines... was it in the southside of the city?

Ye, a number of times its hovered directly over my house. It wakes up the entire estate at that.

I can remember whenever a mate would have a barbeque in his back garden in Firhouse, the Garda chopper would appear for about 2 hours and hang around, without fail.

We get the chopper doing manouvers over the park near our house all the time and always at 2 in the morning. I can usually ignore it and go back to sleep though.

It more annoying when it just appears to be hanging around doing nothing. For example I was at a barbeque at a friend's house and it hovered over us for about an hour and circled the area for another hour. It's very annoying when you're trying to have conversation. We weren't even doing anything just sitting out the back chatting.

The same thing happened one evening when my parents had a barbeque.

When it's there it doesn't appear to be searching for something in specific. Just flying around in large circles and hovering over houses where people are sitting outside. Is there a new curfew I didn't know about?

There's a height restriction on how low the chopper can fly. Pointing the light at an individual and flying too low will cause serious burns!

Goto Ebaums site and have a look at the Mpeg file of what seems to be an attack chopper,jesus they take out those blokes in a blink of an eye.

are you sure they are chasing scum?
I know that the new laws which make it illegal to burn anything other than smokless fuel and they've really started to crack down on the isue by sending out choppers to keep check on populated areas. or so I've been told. (someone might clarify)
But if your chimney is pouring out lots of smoke you will be fined. My uncle who lives outside of town was burning leaves and stuff on his land and was done for it, caught by the helicheckers.
The choppers were doing the rounds here back in nov december and it was constant for about two weeks, hadn't a clue what was going on till the mother explained.

Trust me they are not checking to see if you are burning smokeless fuels or whos smoking joints at your bbq.

The Garda chopper is only taken out to police public order events or in cases of serious crime...eg..joy riders, robberies, burglaries in progress.



And the reason they hover for so long as if they are doing nothing is due to them having a camera and downlink to garda control in hq... so a member of senior rank eg inspector/super/chief/commish can monitor from the ground whats going on and adjust units on the ground accordingly.

Garda friend told me all this.
