What are your pet hates when it comes to people doing STUPID thing without thinking about them, I mean day to day stuff. My three will illustrate what I mean.

    1) People who actually push the "pedestrian" button at a junction. It's fine at a pedestrian crossing, they arn't controled, but at a major junction, all these lights are sequenced and the pleb button has no function other than making the lemming think they have SOME control!!

    2) People who push a lift request button more than once in the vain hope that the lift will come faster if you hammer the dasmn button!

    3) Computer users who double click an app then do it again "incase" and then again "'cause it ain't started yet"

Rant rant rant, I know its all about buttons, but at the mo thats whats vexing me!!!

Actually at many large junctions the pedestrian stage isn't part of the set sequence, it only becomes part of it when one of the people above press the button. Lucky they do, cos you'd be standing there all day.

Sorry, but can't agree. With the junctions with filters etc. the ped sequence is part of it regardless, there are some junctions with no pedestrian sequence at all (North Circular in Phibsborough). If you have expertise in this I'll bow to it, but in my experience and observation (about 5 hours a day driving around all the city and suburbs) the sequences are all well timed and - caveat - as far as I have seen, the button serves no function in speeding or changing the sequence.

At some filters a pedestrian stage will be built in to the sequence because it doesn't oppose any traffic movement, in other words it makes no difference to the traffic using the junction that it is on or off, so it might as well come on to signal to any pedestrians that now is a good time to cross. But on a junction where the pedestrians can only cross by stopping the traffic then the pedestrian stage will be on-demand. Otherwise it would be seriously inefficient to have the traffic waiting for a set period every time the sequence cycled through.

And yes, I have some expertise in this, the most glamourous of fields.

ped signal isnt part of the sequence.
    sutton x , go have a look

    pc thing,
sometimes apps dont respond, double clicking again opens them.

    lifts,
well, we live in a democracy so 2 out of 3 , ;)

Ok, will accept what you say, will just have to be more observant. I'll start timing my favorite junctions!

I do all of those things because I'm impatient, so basically you have no patience with impatient people...

anyhow, more to the point, why are the transportation office spending money on extra buttons to make me feel powerful?

and actually, I like pressing buttons..preferably as many times as I could.
