I'm looking for the biios reset button on a dell inspiron 8500 laptop. It stopped booting up after I took off the cover of the ram bay.

The dell website is the best place to look mate. Last week I checked their site for documentation on my 8 year old Dell tower pc.

You'll most likely be looking for a jumper rather than a button. If you can't find that, you could just temporarily remove the battery (small round silver one) from the motherboard and that would reset the bios.

But I recommend searching the Dell site.

depends on what dell you have. I know some of them you only have to hold a certain key combo to reset the bios, but yeah hes right check the site.

alot of laptops use the laptop battery to keep the bios settings.

did this only a couple of days ago to test something, on a desktop it's a wee jumper located near enough the battery on the mobo, dunno where I'd start with a laptop, never had a crack at opening one of em tbh.
