    Millionaire

A mate of mine is in the process of buying 5 KM dvds of ebay .. can he learn much off these? I would imagine an art like this would have to be felt rather that watched and learned, but he assures me other wise... as he has become quite proficient in some other MA from watching dvds and practising with friends... what you think?

Like any art the best way is to actually do it and have someone train u. If it is the set I am thinking about, I have them myself at home. Yes they are very good for getting the basics down. My best use of them is to refresh my mind on the escapes from locks grabs etc. the strikes is pretty basic.
these tapes (if I am assuming they are the ones I have from www.kravmaga.com) are from the American version of KM, which recently has been watered down a bit (and kickboxing thrown in) , to fit into the fancy healthy club culture. what we do here is the Israeli version which is much harder, and street orientated.

Like most martial arts video, unless it is something personally I find to be ground breaking, I get bored after 20 mins. I much prefer to be training in class.

well bambi there are several techniques to defend against the stick.

however the most important thing is to take off your shoes and socks and bow to your attacker while mumbling something along the lines of "kung fu is my secret, I bear no arms, God forgive me, if I ever use my hands" , roar like a bull, then go into ur defense! ; - ) thrust me it will work, sure didn't the great grand master chong bong kill two tigers with his little finger 150 years ago in rural asia, with this same technique. (and poor ol chong bong was 87 at the time and blind too..grasshopper) : - 0
