Letters in the post

I really should know this by now, but when you fail a module, is there a letter sent out to your house early after semester 1 exams? I know it happens at the end of the year; everyone who failed at least one module gets a letter a week earlier than everyone else, but is it the same for before semester 2?

They did it when I was in first year in '02 but not anymore afaik.
