I just heard a vicious rumour on digitalSpy that the new F1 season wont be on RTE anymore as it now pay per view event on Setanta Sports. This surely cant be true, for however boring the sport is, I Love it.

Yes, I think it was announced a few months ago that Setanta had won the Irish F1 rights ahead of RTE.

At least we won't have to hear about the 'earrly' rate of 'atrishion'

Interesting interview with Setanta boss, Niall Cogley, in yesterday's Irish Examiner. He said they expected a large take up on Sky Digital in Ireland as RTE will not have the F1 rights, and 'the ITV channel is not available on this platform in Ireland'. Hmmmm. Wonder what he'll have to say if ITV go FTA in April??

Yep, good 'ol RTE, perhaps they are using the money they saved to pay Gay Byrne's salary - they seem to be wheeling him out at every available opportunity to present the most awful drivel they can dream up.

Actually, I think Irish football got raped by the government by the disportionate amount of "events" placed on the protected list sucking money out of the domestic game. The people to look at are RTE...

It's not strictly speaking PPV, it will be on the regular Setanta Sports channel, not Setanta PPV, and therefore free to any lucky person on NTL who get Setanta Sports for free as part of their TV package. That doesn't include me unfortunately, but at least Setanta Sports have an offer at the moment for a year's subscription for €99 which isn't too bad given the fact that it will cover all 3 days of each F1 event for the whole season. I also have an FTV card, so no probs getting ITV1/2/3 but I still feel they won't even show the Sunday super qualifying live, it will just be part of the pre race buildup with some quick highlights of it. I haven't subscriped to Setanta yet, still thinking about it, but if you are really into F1 like me, I don't think ITV will be good enough with the new system this year.

According to LJ's website (http://64.77.87.5/sport/F1.html) the first Grand Prix (and I presume the rest of them) will be on RTL on Astra 19E. In German but FTA....

Setanta and F1 are not platform specific, moved to Broadcasting.

setanta will be 12.99 euro per month on subscription on sky platform

This isn't entirely correct. There is a deal now for €99 for 12 months so 8.25 euro per month, although you have to pay the full €99 up front via credit card I believe. Also, if you read the T&C's, even if you pay the 12.99 euro a month, you are actually signing up for a 12 month contract so beware!! So best to take the €99 offer if you are going to subscribe at all, since you are stuck for a year either way.
