I was just pondering the other day, ppl are now saying Jesus was black because he kept saying things like "my brothers" when addressing the crowd, but what if the bible was cooked up by 4 dudes named Mathew, Mark, Luke and John, waaaaaaaaaaay back about 2000 years ago. y'know, just a joke by a group of frat boys?

ps. I'm sorry if this offends any bible-bashers out there ;)

actually therecklessone in this book the hero dies in the middle. then we have all the books from acts to revelations. remember he rises again on easter sunday.

Actually jesus was jewish, although that doesnt say wether or not he was black or whit.

members of the KKK call each other "brother" and to the best of my knowledge none ofthem are black. unless they have had a recent policy change.

I wouldn't call it a hoax. A hoax is usually light-hearted and funny. There's nothing funny about Christianity.

He's referring to a joke, that we know Jesus was black because:
    1. He called everyone "Brother"
    2. He was into Gospel
    3. He couldn't get a fair trial

Someone from Jesus' time and place would have looked quite a bit like http://www.terra.com.br/noticias/galeria/popular_melhores/010327_real_jesus.jpg though there is some evidence that Jesus would have had shorter hair than that.

There are many definitions of the word "cult". Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism and Satanism all fail to meet any of them.

Which of these definitions is not applicable to Christianity etc.?

I can't see any of those being applicable.
Just about all of them are applicable to at least one Christian group, or trend within Christianity (e.g. the Marian cult in Catholicism) (and that also goes for Hinduism, Buddhism and Satanism) but none for Christianity as a whole.

I was critiquing Gothic Warriors point, not yours, but decided to include yours since then I can dismiss claims that they are cults for good measure.

OK. I always assumed Christianity was A system or community of religious worship and ritual. but don't really know enough about it to contradict you.

I'd dispute that on the basis that there are many differing systems as to how Christian worship and ritual goes, and many different communities that define themselves as Christian, as well as individuals who don't belong to any such community.

A system or community of religious worship and ritual.
The formal means of expressing religious reverence; religious ceremony and ritual.

It can be argued that those rules apply to Christianity and it's derivatives (Catholicism etc), particularly the second one. If Catholicism doesn't involve any of those things, I'd love to see how...

The worship of God, and the prayers unto him are "religious reverence". Sure, they even use the word "revere" when referring to God.
"Religious ceremony", well, there's Mass every Sunday, various religious ceremonies (Yes, even the Catholic Church calls them Religious Ceremonies!) for various occasions; weddings, funerals, baptism.
And finally, "ritual".. well, daily prayers are rituals, no question about that. As is the breaking of bread and the drinking of wine every Sunday in Mass.

And that's not even mentioning the constant repetition of prayers in Church, standing, sitting, kneeling, standing again.. over and over, Saying Amen after the end of particular sentences, confessing to sins you're not sure you committed, the wearing of certain costumes, sorry, "robes" by leaders, sorry "clergymen", each different costumes designating position in heirarchy.... need I go on?

    cult ( P ) Pronunciation Key (klt)
    n.

A religion or religious sect generally considered to be extremist or false, with its followers often living in an unconventional manner under the guidance of an authoritarian, charismatic leader.
The followers of such a religion or sect.
A system or community of religious worship and ritual.
The formal means of expressing religious reverence; religious ceremony and ritual.
A usually nonscientific method or regimen claimed by its originator to have exclusive or exceptional power in curing a particular disease.

Obsessive, especially faddish, devotion to or veneration for a person, principle, or thing.
    The object of such devotion.
An exclusive group of persons sharing an esoteric, usually artistic or intellectual interest.
Sounds like Catholocism to me at least. Though I think Cult is defined incorrectly when compared to it's practical uses.

Cult (n): A synonym for religeon. Usually used by a speaker indoctrinated in another religeon who wishes to discredit the religeon being discussed.
