Which 0.3dB LNB?

I'm looking into buying a 0.3dB (single) LNB with the purpose of getting a better signal in bad weather from Astra 19.2E and maybe some channels from Sirius 5E, Thor/Intelsat 1W, etc.

I've heard the Invacom is a good one (it'd better be because it's rather expensive). Other LNBs seem to be cheaper: MTI, Maximum, Golden Interstar, Inverto, Humax...

Any recommendations or comments on performance, quality, price...?

    Thanx

BTW, I've got the Lidl system with 80cm dish, 0.6dB LNB, etc.

The MTI is a well proven LNB and you might also consider the digiality. Invacom prices have dropped quite a bit so you should able to get one for less than 40 euro

I am using an invacom twin with very good results on a channelmaster 1.2m. Picking up everything that is expected and many channels that in theory require bigger dishes.

Very little difference between 0.6dB and 0.3dB nf LNB. In some cases in Gibralter the "standard" 0.6dB performed better than a 0.3 dB (BBC / ITV on Astra 2D to Digibox)

The next size bigger dish has about ten times the maxium impovement possible for 0.6dB --> 0.3dB nf

download free program from www.sme.se that shows effect of different parts of system and also elevation and azimuth for any satellite.

    MTI are good.

But for 19.2E with Lidl 80cm dish and LNB reception should be perfect even in rain that pixalates Sky on a minidish!

Your dish may need aligned more carefully.

For 5E, *NO* expense of LNB will get all the channels on 80cm dish. Minimum a 1m dish, ideally 1.4m in MidWest Ireland to get more than basic Mosow/Ukraine bunch.

I would get a better dish!!! I love Triax dishes!!! I find them great at pulling in weak signals!!!

As Watty said 19E should be good on a 80cm dish. I have a MTI 0.6db an old 85cm dish and between 70-90% signal on 19E. You may need to adjust your dish settings.

    Thanks for the comments.

I tried realigning the dish (and the LNB itself) for hours but cannot get better than 70-71%... It's funny because I can get most of what I want no problem, even under the rain, but when the weather starts getting annoying (which living in Ireland it's too often) channels like the Spanish TVE and RAI 1 get pixelated (is this the term?) showing > 60% signal....

Can it be the dubious quality 10m cable i bought in Argos, plus having cut it into 2 pieces to include the 7-8 inch flat mini-extension that runs under the balcony door what's causing the problem?

Also, can anybody get TV Sport Ro in Intelsat 10-02 1.0W and if so with what setup? Will 80cm dish and 0.6 LNB be enough?

    Er... yes!!!

TV is 470MHz up to 850MHz, Satellite is 750MHz to 2150MHz on the coax!

    file or drill a hole

Only use Satellite grade 75 Ohm, ideally with copper foil rather than the aluminium foil. CT100 or similar. Needs lager size hole in middle of F-Connector

The "skinny" cable with foil is no use either as it is for Cable TV 50Mhz to 300MHz.
