I need to get new arrows for the summer, looked at ACE but the price is putting me off.

Triples seem ok, and i'm sure for my level they are sufficient, but i heard that you'd get better sight marks with ACE's? If so how much of a difference are we talking about?

As they are the lighest arrows your sights will be alot higher with ACEs. You should talk to Ewan about the Triplets.

    Triplets?

    :P

I found the Triples to be good arrows - quite heavy though, I found 90m a squeeze at times.

    Good arrows for the price.

Im going to be buying ACEs this summer, lighter arrow, therefore better sightmarks, and with the reduced mass, I can use a heavier point, and better FOC.

    Regards

how big a difference are we talking about?

So basic question, with 36lbs last year i was just about getting 70m, i'm pulling 40lb atm and will probably be up to 42 by the summer, will triples be sufficient to hit 90m?

ACE (520) are 6.6 grains per inch
Triples (500) are 7.52 grains per inch

at 28.5 inches thats makes the bare shafts
    ACE - 188 grains
    Triples - 214 grains

    Points (100 grains)
    Nocks+Fletches (30 grains ???)

    that would bring you to:
    ACE - 318 grains
    Triples - 344 grains

So the ACE's are only ~7.5% lighter than the triples.

    For anyone wondering:
    1 gram = 15.43 grains
    1 grain = 0.0648 grams

But you were shooting redlines right?

So firstly, your arrows will be completely different. Secondly, you were shooting mediocre limbs, whereas you now have the ultra fast XQ-1s which should help you shoot further.

I could hit 70m with a bit to spare with aluminium 2014s, the same draw length and 34lbs (Gold Medalist Limbs) so I figure you'll have no trouble hitting 90m with 42lb XQ-1s and some form of carbon arrow.

The fact of the matter is that you will probably lose some arrows and A/C/Es are **** expensive. I've got pretty much the same dilema and there's no way I'm flushing the extra money for A/C/Es down the proverbial toilet. Toxof wrecked his A/C/Es and you two are probably around the same level at present.

If I were you, I'd get either A/C/Cs or Triples. I know I'll be shooting with my A/C/Cs over the summer at any rate.

Its possible to hit 90 with 2014 X7s... not 100% of the time bad shots result in nosedives! But thats drawing 42lbs!

Go with the triples, with your shorter draw length and reasonable poundage you should be grand for 90. Plus if you lose one you dont have to hold a funeral :)
