Ok, Looking for help with thsi one, firstly i connected the wrong power supply by accident to my external firewire Lacie drive and then there was a few sparks and it stopped working. I Then hooked up the hard drive(out of external case) itself through my ide to my main computer to see if it would work still(assuming only the power suply in the external was gone) but when i did this my computer started to emit a single long beep and now refuses to boot at all! Ive tried resetting the cmos and removing the ram, and also reseating all cards and cables, but still nothing apart from a beep when my computer starts to load up and then internittent every 10 secs or so. There is no signal going to the monitor but everything seems to power up ok. Any ideas what to do next?

look in your motherboard manual to find out what the beep(s) mean..
sounds like to did a fair bit of damage..

Go for ram first, check ide cables are secure.
Theres different beeps for each thing afaik.
You could try google it to find which component is causing it.

Disconnect all IDE drives/CD and floppy, remove all cards except video.
Power up and see if it boots.
If not swap video card for some other one if poss. - try pci if u have one.
If still no joy move on to the power supply.
If still nothing, you're into cpu / motherboard possibly.

    single beep usually means cables
    continuous beep usually means chip/ram.

looks like you may ahve damaged your board. Good luck, i mean that.
