    Hi,
    Total newbie when it comes to mp3..
    As suggested downloaded CDex 1.51 to encode mp3 files. However having serious problems with quality of mp3 files encoded using Lame ( V 1.30, engine 3.92 MMX ) with analog input. I am trying to record from Sky digibox via Scart to phono stereo to phono 3.5mm stereo jack to Yamaha PCI Audio Card. The mp3 file is very distorted as though the recording level is too sensitive/high. Anyone suggest possible solution?

    Hi there -

    I had a similar problem. I use it to record streaming audio. Double click on the speaker icon in the windows task bar. This opens the volume control panel.

    Click on Options > Properties

    Adjust volume for *recording*.
    This opens the recording controls. One of these will be selected. Now adjust the levels downwards to about 20% (there is a bit of trial and error here).

    Then exit, and try again. Should do the trick!

    Thanks for the advice, all the way from Canada...
    Makes absolute sense.
    Tried reducing volume control and line volume and both...
    Recording still as distorted :confused:
