Heavier spam these days?

I seem to be getting lots of spam with huge attachments in one of my hotmail accounts these days - to the point that it's always nearly filled to maximum capacity when I log in. Is this just some random event or have others experienced this too?

same here - lots in junk mail and so called "filtered" inbox.
Messages with attachments in the 40-60KB mark... but nearly 10 a day would sink me in no time.
I upgraded to Hotmail plus (19.99 a year).
If you can afford it.. its great! soooo much storage.

I've already got a g-mail account.

I wonder where this bulky spam is comming from? It must be clogging up a lot of bandwidth.

Sam here. As a result, I've transferred nearly all hotmail traffic, of any importance, to my gmail a/c. Better storage, better system - MSN, with its 2MB storage, can go choke.

Just get Gmail it's so much better!!! Works with POP3 now as well so you can check your email from a phone or use it with an email program like Outlook...

This probably sounds really ignorant but what is gmail?? Is it a different version of your hotmail account or something and where do you register for it...have 2 hotmail accounts, the one I use through outlook (touch wood!) never seems to get much junk mail but the other accessed through hotmail itself has gotten 15 junk emails today alone which is way out of the ordinary.

15????? Try 50-60. And all variations on about 3 themes - cheap drug, pron and stock-market/finance stuff.

heres a way to upgrade your hotmail a/c to 250mb


I upgraded my hotmail account and I can now store
250mb of emails and attach up to 10mb. 250mb is alot
better than the standard 2mb. I will tell you how to
upgrade your account. When you sign into hotmail go
into options click personal click my profile change
your country to United States. Change the State to
Florida and type in the ZIP code 33332 then click
update. Once you do that while still logged into
hotmail copy and paste the following link into the web
browser there is no www
hotmail.msn.com/cgi-bin/accountclose
It will ask you do you want to close your account you
click close my account and you account will be closed.
Then log into your account as normal and your account
will reactivated. Dont worry you will not loose any
saved emails or any addresses. I did it to a load of
accounts and lost no infotmation or emails. once you
Log in you will get 25mb of email storage and a week
or two later you will get your account bumped up to
250mb.
You should do it it is fairly cool.

You need an invite from another g-mail user to get an account.

jeez, I'm not doing so bad then, used to get about 2/3 a day and thought 15 was a plague...am going off now to have a little read up on G-mail!

nice one that worked....so at least I've loads of storage now for all the new junk mail coming my way!!

in the meantime, the Gmail account looks good so if anyone has a link they can send so as I could sign up would be very grateful

I seem to be endlessly plagued with rolex offers. All of a sudden, there was nothing but rolexes.
Not sure what I get in hotmail, just delete it without looking. Get about.. 10/15 a day I think...

A grand total of 1111 in my junk-mail folder since Janary 5th. That averages at around 32 a day. and that's my work account. I closed my hotmail and oceanfree addresses as the spam was just getting to be too much. Now I use gmail only!

I just tried this and it seems to have worked, got 25mb now thanx! didnt lose any of my saved emails either, was a bit worried i would for a sec there tho. I shouldnt have doubted you cheers

i get spam in my gmail account though it probably averages about 1 every two days.

however it nearly always ends up in the spam folder, its very rare i have to report spam
