Hopefully some of you dudes can help me out on this ... Im using the latest version of Norton AntiVirus Corporate Edition on an XP SP1 machine.. all is good it picks up the virus definitions etc .. But when I select 'Scan Computer' I am only getting a listing for 'My Computer' but none of the drives are appearing... not even the machines local C:\ drive. This is the only machine on the network with this problem

    Any ideas?

    What user rights?

    would agree with Blub,
what rights do you have on the machine.
even, if possible, try logging in as Administrator and see if you have the same issue there.
Also what version exactly do you have of NAV?

admin rights ... its version 7.6

Strange that you are getting that with Admin rights.
Do you have any problems with NAV devices in device manager? NAVAP, NAVEPEL, NAVEX

FYI, 7.6 isn't the latest version,
I would go with the question from Blub,
any Services Stopped? any unusual activity with the processes?
is it a domain or Local Admin rights you have?
see if the 'symantec Antivirus' service is running with Local System rights.
otherwise, try reinstalling , might be faster than actually troubleshooting this issue.

Also, is the Client Managed or unmanaged, if managed, try pushing the scan from the Server console

If it is 7.6 it has not been bought in the last year or so as version 8 and 8.1 are out quite a while but if you have a lisence you are entitled to download the latest version from Symantec. They have a section on their support page, put in your serial number on the documentation you got and it will allow you download the new copy. Otherwise ring support from who you bought it off, lastly failing this ring symantec on 01 6011903 and tell them your serial number and they will help you out.

going from th fact that the license hasn't expired.
but the thing you might have to consider, is if you update that one client, and it is managed, then you will have to reinstall it on the server.
which means more work for Admins, and I don't think a company will upgrade like this unless they have a real reason and not just a client which isn't scanning as it should

I've seen this on all versions of the corpoate version of NAV. The only solution that I have come up with is a complete uninstall from the client or server and reinstall.

Have never been able to figure out why it loses it's ability to list/scan the drives.
