Wondering if anyone can shed some light on this, my technically gifted uncle has somehow managed to in the process of using his standard four hardware dvd region changes lock it on the final one, this being of all things, Chinese (I have the sneaking suspicion that this is a language he doesn't speak).

He's in london so I haven't been able to look at the pc in question and his descriptions have been....vague, but it appears it's a newish XP machine, is there any easy way to unlock the region without resorting to firmware flashing? I've in the distant past used software to lock region changes to an infinite amount but i'm at a loss for what to do when it's all out of changes and stuck. On Chinese.

    Any suggestions greatly apreciated.

    use this http://www.slysoft.com/en/

you dont even need to touch your firmware.

and its a free trial ........... ;-) plays all regions.......

BTW I been to China many times and the CDs have DVD on them but most of them are SVCD or VCD ripps unless you have an oficial DVD from a reconised retailer, China is "full of DVD pirates"
