Burning Mp3s

    I have a few comedy shows on MP3 that I want to burn for a friend.

    Each show is c30mins in length and the files are around 30megs in size. The CD-Rs he gave me purport to hold 700megs, and 80 minutes.

    So, while I understand that they would hold only 2 30 minute shows, is there any way of actually getting more onto the CD. I tried saving the files as data files (using RecordNow) and that seemed to work, although the CD didn't then play in his player. I guess all I've done is burn the MP3s so that he can then copy them down to his laptop and play them as standard.

    Is the overhead involved in making MP3s playable on any normal player so much that I can only fit about 60megs onto a 700meg CD? I'm a little confused, is there any way of getting all the shows onto the CD without losing the playability?

    you can have 700mb of data or 80 minutes of audio
    mp3 = data
    nero can burn mp3s as audio discs for you,
    but then you can only get 80 mins

    Get Nero and select 'Create Audio CD' ... sorted :)

    You can also use a thing called MP3 to CD - the trial version will only allow ten tracks, but if each show is a track then it will do you.

    If his player supports playing MP3's burned on a CD-R, then you should have no problem burning the shows as regular data.

    However if it doesn't, then you'll have to burn them as a regular Audio cd, and i'm sure Record Now has an option to burn mp3's as a regular audio cd.

    Record Now lets me create an Audio CD (2 shows fit) or a Data CD (all shows fit) so I was really just interested in knowing whether I could burn them as 'data' but still have them playable.

    NO. Unless you play them in a mp3 cdr player.
