"interference" problem with RedFM signal in Youghal town area

I was in Youghal town the other day and noticed splatter interference (most especially with stereo) on RedFM's relay transmitter for that town on 105.1

this 'splatter' in coming from the audio on CRY - Community Radio Youghal (107.2) during the hours it is on air - though it should be pointed out it is not due to any problem with CRY's transmitter!

This has been going on for ages

The reason why its happening? (- all this from an RF engineer..)

Both CRY and RedFM have transmitters on Youghal Watertower - Red FM's equipment picks up 106.1 from their main transmitter in the city and rebroadcasts to the town on 105.1. Now - the receive aerial for 106.1 is only a few feet away from the transmit aerial for CRY 107.2 (and RedFM's 105.1 transmit aerial) at the top of the watertower, which despite filters is swamping RedFM's rebroadcast receiver.
The obvious solution to this problem is for RedFM to simply relocate their receive aerial for 106.1 - sidemount it down the side of the watertower, perhaps half way up - rather than having it at the very top - too close to its and CRY's transmit aerials.

Its incredible that this problem is still there after so long
