would you notice upgrade from celeron 500 to pIII 5oo?

    friend has a machine for playing mp3's, finds it a bit slow
    would a PIII make a difference to the celly?

    If all he's doing is playing mp3's, which I doubt he is, I use a celeron 333 as a download machine and a file server, It has no problem running Winamp, Explorer, abc torrent word etc etc, So I'm assuming he's trying to do more. AFAIK you would notice the difference in the upgrade, or sidestep. How much ram has the computer got, I'd say that'd effect the mp3 play back more.

    Hmmm, not sure exactly but i think a PIII would have double the L2 cache of a Celeron. 512 versus 256.
    Not sure what kind of performance increase this would translate to.
