Galway's finally getting a games convention in the form of Itzacon.

It will run from the 11th-13th of March, and Wargames are being catered for.

There will be Warhammer and 40K tournaments, 1,500 points limit each and much in the style of those run at Gaelcon, and some of the missions will include the Combat Patrol and Border Patrol rules (Essentially "40K In 40 Minutes" for both tourneys).

As well as that, there'll be room set aside for those not in a tournament (or those waiting for your next battle) to play short games, with a ranking and prize at the end of the weekend.

There should be a speed-painting competition, demos for historical wargames and a couple of other systems (most notably Space Grunt by the guys at Diddlysquat), and even an Inquisitor game running over the whole weekend (in 40K scale, models supplied, first come first served), and if things wrap up quickly enough, a big free-for-all multi-army extravaganza with a couple of live action roleplaying elements thrown in.

I'm working on getting a GW trade stand over, and we have a guest in the form of Black Library author Justin Hunter, writer of Forged In Battle. He'll be bringing an army too, if you fancy a go at him. :)

There'll be some updates to the site soon enough, check back every now and again.
