Why limit the number of gigs they will play to two when they could make a mint with five or six nights straight, something alike what Westlife did at the Point?
Also, Slane would have been a better place two 160,000 gigs would be four or five times the capacity of Croker.
Congrats to those who got them, hope they add a third!

There is no third. Just heard a spokesperson on the radio.

They are in England on Monday and Croker will be restored to normal on Sunday I assume. That's why they aren't doing more.

the same reason sony et al dont release enough consoles at christmas.

drives the buying public into a frenzy and everything sells out in 5 minutes,
then , massive publicity for all involved means more sales in the long run.

they don't need the money and it's an ego exercise.

I find it ironic that they have a big Sold Out sign for U2 and then within the same screen: "Due to phenomenal demand Kris Kristofferson has added three extra Dublin dates when performs his nationwide tour in June of this year"

Phenomenal demand? Surely that was what kept me from getting tickets for the gig this morning. So why don't they add extra dates. The fockers.

Wait, wasn't everyone queueing for Kris Kristoffer tickets overnight? I know I was.

I can't see the residents of Drumcondra being happy getting invaded 5 or 6 nights in a row to be honest.

I honestly think there'll be a third. Any quote I've heard from MCD has been along the lines of 'no 3rd show... at this point'. You can't buy publicity like this - they're just milking it for all they can get.

I think its because of the residents around croke park, they only applied for two dates because thats all they'd get, as anything more and the residents would complain

They applied for 3 I heard.

There will be 3 gigs for any of you who are worried, that's definite.
MCD are just doing this as a marketing ploy.
Have premium level tickets for Croke Park and because have season tickets got offered tickets for the 3 nights through Croke Park (all taken i'm afraid).

So in short there's still a good chance to get tickets.

And the reason there's only 3 in Croke PArk is because of planning permission, Croke Park are only allowed 3 non GAA events (i.e. concerts) in the year.

Thank goodness for that, live too close to Croke to survive four U2 concerts in a row

Surely all the people peeing in your front garden will help your plants come on?

I was under the impression it was only two.

Anyway, I think a homecoming gig at the end of their 2nd American leg in Phoenix Park would be sweet!

I'm sorry but a gig in Phoenix Park would most certainly not be sweet, its an awful venue for a concert.
3 nights planning permission was applied for alright but whether that means 3 concerts is another question maybe they were just covering themselves.
