Was wondering if anyone who owned this lens would offer to let me try it out on my 20D? Tests will be carried out in your presence of course.

I'm also interested in trying the 17-85 EFS.

Don't have the f4, but do have the f2.8L (non IS) version, and it's a cracker, so if the quality of the f4 is anywhere near that of the f2.8 you should not be disappointed.
Have you considered trying one out in a photography store? Surely someone must have one in stock.

I have actually but none have had it in stock. I'll try Jessops again on the w/e.

Have you looked at the Sigma 70~200 F2.8 APO hsm
It is an absolute cracker of a lens, even shooting wide open. Extremely fast & quiet.
I shoot film/digital & it is quite possibly the best lens i own [have primes from 15mm-300]
Bargain at €900, got it in pixels a few months ago.

    Forgot to mention:
If the 17-85 EFS is of the same quality as the 18-55 then I wouldn't touch it.
