EU vs USA Software Purchase

    Hello,

I was looking for the latest version of AutoCAD LT (which is PC software) and had a look at Amazon. Amazon.com has it for $815, Amazon.co.uk has it for £772 and Amazon.de has it for €1200. Some difference.

Is there any reason why I should not buy from USA and install here in Ireland? Will I get nailed with duty / taxes? How much?

Apologies if I have posted in the wrong section. Thank you.

Nope, I've done this, the only problems you'll encounter are with Word Processors that refuse to default to real english, or DVD burning software that won't burns Region 2 (3 levels of protection, drive, windows, software; pain in the ass).
    AutoCAD should be grand though.

I've only bought a handful of software titles from the US, but if you can get them to mark its insurance value lower (or Gift Wrap it, send invoice electronically!) you'll save a packet.

    3 cheers for globalisation.
