20 Second Lock Up Weirdness

This has happened once before and I was curious if anyone had the same problem and resolved what it was.

Apparently for no reason, my system has gone into a loop where every 20 seconds, the computer locks up and the CPU Usage goes to 100%.
I'm using XP, and have a number of programs running (42 processes) but the last time I had this I killed every process I could and didn't resolve it.

Now, the last time this happened I simply restarted and it went away, I'm sure it will this time also; I just don't know what the problem is and it vexes me so :/

attached is screencap of the CPU usage

having the exact same problem with 5 machines in work, can't seem to pinpoint the problem. Possably a worm/virus but can't find anything after constant scanning with housecall, norton and avg. Tried 3 spyware programs and nothing. It can't be the hardware as they all have different specs and 1 machien with the exact same config and specs runs without a bother.

ever herd of ram leakage, parently when there are multiple processes/programs in the backround and the ram is faulty s**t happens, but dont hold me to that, its just an educated guess
