If you know anyone going to the US at any point, just get them to get you anything that you want. Its like half the price....dont get me started on IPOD's! so much cheaper, you can get ur airfare and hotel for what you'll save. i went to NY recently and spent a fortune but if i had of bought the same stuff here it would have cost me twice as much....sick and tired of havin to pay over the odds

Was over in boston for 2 weeks on business. Brought back several Ipods for mates out of work and brought myself back 2 20" TFT monitors and 2 GF6800GT cards. My mate brought back a 17" TFT and loads of other components. All in all, probably saved well over €2000 at least.

With the exchange rate the way it is and the flights selling for next to nothing.. you'd be mad to buy anything substanial in Ireland when you can get it over there.

How did you get that stuff back to Ireland, Lynchie? Did you go over with some empty suitcases?

I came back from NYC recently with 1 iBook, 1 isight, tons of designer clothes, 3 pairs of shoes, 1 antennas , 150 blank dvdrs,1200 cigarettes ... the list goes on. Only fools shop in Ireland.

Put one 17" TFT complete in its box in a suitcase.
Removed the stands for the two 20" TFT, put them in a case. Wrapped up the screens carefully and carried them onboard with me. Carried the Ipods, cameras etc.. in another bag which my mate carried.

For transatlantic flights you can take two suitcases each plus a large bag on board so generally there is enough room to bring back some goodies if you pack light in the first place :)

Micro Center on Memorial Drive in Cambridge is probably the best computer shop in Boston. There are also many CompUSA and Best Buy stores, but mostly out in the suburbs.

However, the prices online will probably be cheaper as you can often evade the state sales tax of 5%. If you have an address in Boston to which you can ship, you should check the online prices at http://www.pricegrabber.com .

With all the high prices and the blatent corruption in the government, they don't deserve the money and they wont until they stop dissin' the people. If your getting stuff off the internet try DVDboxoffice.com as they have free shipping and everything i've gotten off them so far hasn't had any import duty paid on it.
Just don't use courrier shipping as they slap an import tax on items over 30 euro.
