Well, mail.smarttelecom.ie exists and is responding on port 25

    $telnet mail.smarttelecom.ie 25
    Trying 63.218.52.34...
    Connected to mail.smarttelecom.ie.
    Escape character is '^]'.
    220 SMTP service ready

Their backup mail server is mxbackup.netsource.ie

What are you trying to do with it?

Liamo's right, it's the correct address if you are trying to send a mail to smarttelecom.
It may not be their smtp server for customers trying to relay mail though.

    D:\>nslookup
    Default Server: x.y.z
    Address: 1.2.3.4

    > set type=mx
    > smarttelecom.ie

    Non-authoritative answer:
    smarttelecom.ie MX preference = 10, mail exchanger = mail.smarttelecom.ie
    smarttelecom.ie MX preference = 20, mail exchanger = mxbackup.netsource.ie
