heading to New York in Feb for a 10-day break.
I was there last March and couldn't find any decent pubs/clubs.
I checked out some new spots in meatpackers district,
but they weren't great, and a few Irish bars around Time Sq were crap.
Any recommendations on good pubs/clubs in NY ?
    (Manhatten or otherwise)

Also, and recommendations on where to head out of town for 4/5 days ?
I was thinking either going to Toronto, or Vegas.

    TIA,
    R

For a good neighbourhood New York bar try Milano's in Lower Manhattan (51 E Houston St), or the more touristy McSorleys, (not sure of the address)

Out of town try Boston if you have not been there before, it's a 3 hr drive or a 1hr flight, or if you go to Canada try Montreal over Toronto, great spot.

Sin Sin (http://www.newyorkmetro.com/pages/details/4385.htm) is a pretty cool pub.

I'm based in Toronto myself - there are a few good spots but if I had your choice - I'd defo go to Las Vegas

I'll throw a bunch of good pubs to go to... just type them up on Google and it will give ya a location.... McSorley's is a great one down in the Villiage... Greenwich Brewing Company, Hoolihan's in Times Square, Deacon Brodies on 46th St between 8th&9th, St Andrew's Pub on 44th St... have fun!!

    yeah, i enjoyed that place.

solas is a pretty cool irish bar, i was last there almost three years ago so it might have changed. (223 East 9th Street between 2nd and 3rd). im off to nyc in three weeks for few weeks and im looking forward to calling back in. its an (northern?) irish bar but thankfully without all the larky that comes with the normal irish bar. good athmosphere.

Nevada Smyths (or maybe its Nevada Bobs) is a deadly place. Its on the lower east side if my memory serves me correctly. Best day I had in their was watching Ireland Spain in WC2002 at 8am after being all out all night, pure quality.

what uses to be Eamon Dorans is pretty good, its on 34th and 6th i think. The Pennsylvania hotel is on 34th and 7th, go thru the main entrance of the hotel right into the back of it and the bar is there, pretty decent enough, good atmosphere

HOGS & HEFIERS down in the meat market Coyote Ugly style place

Tir na Nog (across from Madison Sq. Garden) Owned by a guy from West Limerick a really classy bar frequented by all the VIP's you get across the road! Definetly worth a visit

Spring Lounge near the Italian district is good too

lots of good bars down around Union Square and NYU aswell
