Its taking place in the Burlington Hotel, Dublin.
Has anyone here attended before or will attend this event in October?
I'd be interested in attending, but how does it work out exactly?
    Fees, registration..etc, any details?

Yeah..i doubt i'll be attending with those prices.

Its fair to say you could possibly find similar if not
better information about viruses on the internet already.

    For educational purposes of course!

But it would still be interesting to hear
some of the discussions taking place at an
    event like that.

I found out that there is a discount rate for educational..
    and charitable organisations.

Pardon me for being ungrateful for the discount ;P but its
still 620 euro, which doesn't seem fair to charge a charity,
    but thats another issue.

I know we've beaten this horse on this forum before, but that doesn't look expensive to me for attending a conference running over 3 days.

Well, you have a point, ecksor.
As a student and unemployed, i can't afford it.

    There is hope..
But there is an alternative. VB (Virus Bulletin) employes every year about
7-10 students who will help us running the conference. Students from years
ago still keep in touch and have recommended our show to various friends so
that we never had to employ agency staff. We have been doing this for the
last 5 years. This is a real first inside for IT students to see what they
could expect from a career in this sector. Some students have even found
employment as a direct result of working for/with us.

All students will be allowed to go and sit in sessions and mingle with a-v
specialist during the entire event. They are invited to the evening
entertainments and food and drinks are included throughout. Crew T-shirts
will be supplied and as a bonus, a minimum hourly wage will be paid to all
    students.

What we are asking for: Dedication, punctuality, flexibility and good
    manners.

Jobs entail: Registration of delegates, stuffing delegate bags, manning
microphones during sessions, general helping out.

Students can work shifts, in order for them to work around their lessons.
We need 6 students at any one time at the hotel.

So, anyone interested should get in contact with organisers.

I would only pay that much money to get VB deleted from existance. Program in a real language :D

VB for 'Virus Bulletin' not 'Visual Basic'
    Were you kidding?..nevermind.

    LOL
In fairness Visual Basic could be considered a security problem
especially the way VBS keeps getting re-enabled by default and so many products auto-open (though patches have helped a bit) them
