    Hi,

I'm thinking about getting one of these

    or one of these

    USB enclosures.

Is a fan really necessary for cooling (prob 7,200rpm)? or would I be better off with a quieter enclosure?

Does anyone have either of these?

    Thanks.

yeah i have the 54euro Zynet one.

got it a few weeks ago.

    it works fine.

    but it gets quite hot.

i wouldn't be 100% sure about leaving it going 24/7 like
i do with the rest of my system

I have the Zynet Polar HD Enclosure 3.5" IDE ,aluminium, USB 2.0 €45 one. I find it grand but wouldn't leave it on over 24 hours as they can get hot. Mine has no fan but the aluminium disperses the heat ok. They also need an external power supply.
