Irish dentist on TV ad

I saw an ad for toothpaste on TV today where a man, described as an Irish dentist, recommends the brand. Does anyone know why his name isn't given in the ad? Is he not a dentist or is there some clause in some contract somewhere that prevents dentists from putting their names to such ads?

i remember seeing one ages ago where the dentist was a woman, i dismissed it, she was far too comfortable to be a dentist and even if she was, im sure she wouldnt turn down a rake of money to recommend some stupid toothpaste

Chances are this is the same ad they use for all European countries, just over-dubbed. Try watching his lips next time :)

Some professional organisations limit the amount of advertising it's members can do. An example is the Irish Veterinary Union which, afaik, forbids its members from overtly advertising their services.

If such a situation exists with dentists, their cousins in Northern Ireland are obviously exempt, as there was a quarter page ad on the front of yesterday's Sunday Tribune for a cosmetic dentistry studio in Ballymena, which shows how profitable the migratory tooth trade is.

There's something suspicious about the way they change the camera angle often so as to get images of equipment in the background. Look closely the next time. One clip shows instruments, the next a bed-trolley, the next an electrical machine.
Why would they make that kind of effort to try and convince us if he was an actual dentist.
It's all bull****! Same with those detergent and washing up powder adds!
