prob with dvd drive being seen in cdex

been using cdex to rip my cd's to mp3 for ages got a new dell machine with a nec 3450a drive, and cdex initially will not see the drive until i enable the option for nt - scsi .... cant remember the exact option name as im not at that pc at the minute, its on the bottom right of the drive settings tab in the settings.

I did install latest aspi but that doesnt seem to work, what am i missing here i seem to be getting slow ripping speeds from other applications also like when i make an image file of a cd it defaults to 8x

any ideas greatfully appreciated
