Part of college network

    Hi all,
I'm studying engineering in University of Limerick at the moment, and as such my Powerbook spends almost all its time connected to the college network :)

I was just wondering if anyone was on a similar setup and was using any applications to make things a bit handier for themselves. For instance, I thought there might be some sort of file-searching programme out there somewhere but I haven't found anything yet.

Aswell, I use iChat for its AIM client but as it goes down every now and again due to troubles with the proxy we go through, it seems like trying to use Rendezvous would be an idea (and thus bypassive the proxy I assume?). But as all my friends use Win PCs, is there any client that they can use?

    -David

try Skype for chat, It goes through the proxy at itcarlow no problem and you can talk to windows boxes with the same software, plus you can even talk using VoIP if you want.

I think the Pro version of Trillian is the only Windows program with Rendezvous chat at the moment.
ourTunes lets you download music from other people's shared iTunes libraries on a network and can be very fruitful on a college network ;)
