Several questions, thought it was better this way than starting several new threads, i frown on that kind of activity! :D

Firstly, with regards Transition Year work experience. This isn't me, its a friend. She's working in a cafe for her wrk experience, its fairly lengthy, three weeks to be precise.(thats three weeks of headaches from having her hair tied back too tightly to comply with uniform all day!) She's working 10-6, Mon-Fri for the three weeks, and outstanding from the usual line of duty on work experience i.e. crappy cleaning, but not very laborious, its usually just an opportunity to savour the environment, get a taste for the work if you will. Anyway, she's been working as a full member of staff from day one, waitressing. Cleaning, taking orders, serving food and drinks, working the til, all incorporating. Now the question is how in the hell do i get this bloomin' cube into a circular opening?! No really, how in the hell do the cafe owners get away with this and NOT PAY HER?!

Secondly, anybody know what the law is on bonfires on beaches? Long story, wont explain...

Thirdly, and more for the music conissuers, what would you play for your music practical for the leaving cert? solo pieces, two for bass and two for guitar. Just lookin for a general impressiveness factor opinion here!

    Cheers all for reading!

Employers offer work experience as that's what it is experience. They don't need the extra staff but take on peopleon work experience as help to the school. It's tough luck that your friends got lumbered with a ****ty placement but tough. She could complain to the school. Plus 10-6 isn't a long day to be honest.

It can constitute littering and/or having a fire so as to cause littering (flying ash). Depending on what you are burning, you might add a pollution charge. Keep well away from anything flamable and private property as you don't want arson added.

The school send letters to employers telling them not to pay them...anyway, she should have taken a soft option...like sitting around an office where there's nothing for you to do, thats what i did :D

contact your local fire station for guidelines.....must be certain distance from any structures...must only burn certain materials e.g. wood etc.

If you are used to playing in group/band, and if you've all played a lot together before go for that...i did music for the leavin, i wouldnt recommend putting a group/band together purely for the leaving unless you can practice regularly and only if each person is better / the same level of talent as you....if your crap go for band, if your good i'd recommend solo.

This happens a lot in Ireland. The colleges are overjoyed that companies are volunteering themselves for the students to work in them but the catch is that there's no pay. This way the companies get to pick who they want and then pay them fukk all. Colleges can do little about it really, its a vicious circle really. My advice is to just look for work as you would normally and see what you get that way. I'd never fukking play ball to these miser b@stards who don't pay.
