So now that my Dell 4600 won't support my graphics card, does anyone know what parts I can take from it. I'll just go and buy a case, MotherBoard etc.... But would it be possible to use the P4, fan and other hardware????

If you're carefull when buying the motherboard it should support your P4 and fan, and maybe your memory*. It'll almost certainly support you hard disks and optical drives (CD/DVD), they're presumably IDE and I think almost all motherboards still support them. It may also support your sound cards/network cards etc, depending on why your current one won't support your graphics card. If your graphics card is PCI-e end that's whay you need a new motherboard then you'll need to get one that supports old PCI slots as well just to be sure your old cards work.

*In general if you're already upgrading your motherboard it's a good idea to upgrade your CPU and memory aswell, it makes things easier in the long run, if a little expensive at the start

Take the HDD,CD - DVD,Floppy,CPU - i dont know about the mobo or PSU. As far as i know DELL have funny Mobos and PSU's - RAM should be ok but would try get the spec on all your parts first and make sure they are compatible.

Idea:If it comes out you cant do much make it into a Server

the mobo and PSU are dell specific. Don't use a new PSU with the old mobo, and don't use the old PSU with a new mobo (unless bought from dell). Otherwise you'll end up with a dead mobo.

Sigh...Do you know that for certain or are you just making that up? Please back that up with some links, to the Dell talk forums for example....
