I had a problem with my Graphics card the FXF 6800 GT and it turns out the card its screwed (its covered under warranty so I should be able to get it replaced) so at the mo I’m back to my crappy FX 5200. But I contacted Dell so the nice gentleman on the phone asked me to fool around with the cables and so fourth.

He asked me to unplug the Graphics card and turn the machine on then to tell him was the LED’s on the back read (A, B, C, D) They read Green(A), green(B), green(C) and Orange(D). So the tech support guy said this should not be the case. If the card is unplugged it should read Green, Orange, Green, Orange. So he said he’d go to the lab to check this out. He never got back to me….

So I’m wondering does anyone know what this means cos I’m afraid I’ll get my new card and the same will happen to it again if it’s a problem with the mother board or something…..

the dell 4600 uses a 250w psu unless your got a 9800pro with it in which case it has a 350wpsu your 6800 card will not work on a 250w psu its needs a 350w.

But it was working fine for the last 2 and a half months?

So if i get a replacement card then it will just happen again?

I think the led's on the back case are either in the paper manual or the one on the cd.They do explane whats working and whats not.

Dell rates the power supply using the mean average, while other manufacturers rate their power supplies by the peak power. The mean average is 250 watts, and the peak power capability is 345 watts.

It worked before why would it not work now? Lots o people run 6800's on a 4600. Read the DellTalk forums.
