Had, what you might call, an exceptional rookie season. Overall QB rating of 98.1, 66% completion rating, 17 touchdown passes, 12 rushing first downs, 2.6 avg on rushing AND the guys only 22. What do y'all think......

he was amazing this season.The quality of QB's at the moment is fantastic with Michael Vick in my opinion being the best of them all

I picked him up for my fantasy league, and I intend to keep him. He was excellent this year, and should get better. He has that mentality that was evident in guys like Elway and Favre. Just won't be beat.

2 very different players there, Vick is just an astonishing all-round athlete that will never be matched and Roethlisberger is more of a reliable pocket player (though he does rush when need be). That being said, Roethlisberger will only improve whereas Vick is in a dangerous enough situation with regarding (a) injury and (b) people copping on to his tricks. His style of game will lead him open to injruy and also, once defenses are game to his moves, he might be in trouble. So in answer to your question I'd say Vick, for now. But Roethlisberger has much more potential.

I voted no. For the simple reason that it was not him who pushed the team the whole year. It was the team who were supporting each other. Yes, he did a great job, worth even more credit that it was his first season too. But I dont think he will become an all time great. I give him another 2 maybe 3 years of success before he starts to decline and will become just another QB.

If it wasn't for the steelers exceptional Oline/RB's/WR's then Big Ben would probably not of gone 13-0 as a starter.

Think you are being way too harsh on him. I see him having a stellar career, 15 years, a couple of super bowls.

I think if you looked at his career stats/achievements in isolation you'd say yes, but he's existed in a very QB rich era so he'll always be overshadowed.

Brady, Peyton, Brees are all time greats who have all played during the same era and have/are resetting all of the record books, you can't begin to compare Ben to this trio.

Then you look at the 2nd tier of players during the same period; Rivers, Eli, Stafford, Ryan - Ben can be mentioned along side these guys, but there would be argument as to where he sits in the rankings among them.
The fact that his name doesn't jump to the top of any lists for the period he's played in itself is indicative that he cant be called an all-time great, a real all-time great is generally a unanimously accepted thing.

If you have to jump to the top of the period to qualify, then there is no all time great except Brady which seems odd with Brees, Manning, Ben, Rivers etc. I think he is consistently mentioned in that company which has to qualify.

It's an interesting look at the old posts. Especially comparison of Vick, who went on to be the replacement to Ben at the very end of his career (and be terrible), the comparisons to Vick and Jackson today and you see how the Steelers' rookie is getting on today with a very good defense and very good OL..

Ben has had an exceptional career, two SB wins in three appearances, consistently among the best in the league throughout his career etc. He will make the HOF eventually, for me that makes you a great.

I’d agree with the poster above that stated Brady and Peyton Manning are a level above Ben, Rivers, Ryan and Eli. Not sure about Brees, he might be closer to the second tier than the first, JMO, obviously he is exceptional but I think it’s generous to say he is as good as Brady.

Brady and Manning are clearly the best of our generation, Favre is in a 1a category a bit below them (although he is my all time fav QB).
Then you've got Brees at 2a (despite the numbers, he's never really done a whole lot with them most years - SB excepted), then you have a host of guys as 2b. Ryan. Eli Manning. Rivers. I'd put Ben somewhere at the end of this group.

I'd create another tier below Brady and Manning but above Ben etc. and put Rodgers in there. Haven't seen his name mentioned at all.

Good shout
Rodgers is the steve young to Favre as Montana. Not as good as the guy that preceded him but a top notch QB in his own right.

Good point about Rodgers I forgot all about him somehow. Russell Wilson is also better than Ben, Rivers etc and up with Rodgers and Brees imo
