i've pretty much got my heart set on doin multimedia in dcu but the only problem is i'd expect about 380-400 points in my leaving which is a bit short of whats needed (420 last year, 450 the year before). There's a one year course in E-media in Limavady in the north which i know i can get into and i was wondering how likely it would be that after doin this course i'd be accepted into the Multimedia course in DCU.. If any of you are in the know on this sort of stuff i'd be grateful. I emailed the guy in charge of the course but the reply was not very helpful and it kinda went along the lines of "Why dont you just work hard and get the points?" which doesnt help too much since i'd be working to get 380-400..
Anyway any input would be appreciated,
    JamesD

Well first off the way we were told to fill out our CAOs was to assume you'd get 600 points and fill out what you really want. Don't mind what you think you should get.

If you want a course that's 420 points you're nearly sure not to get it unless you actually want to do a bit of work for the points.

But... a mate of mine was in my engineering course last year and he transfered into Multimedia this year despite being 10 points short of it the year before. He got accepted in on the grounds of his marks from first year and a portfolio presentation they asked him to do. This means, however, he has to pay the full fees for a year and there was no guarantee of him getting in.

Tbh if you're too lazy or just couldn't be arsed to do a bit of work to get the points your odds of getting in are slim to none short of the points coming down this year

it's not that im not workin,i'm studying like mad, at least 3 hours a night,i'm just not naturally smart. Plus I'm really interested in Multimedia,i already have experience in Web Design,Photoshop,Flash,Photography and videoand audio editing.. i mean i would literally just stay at home and study for the next 6 months if i knew it would get me in and im still hopeful its just that i'd like to have a back up in case i dont get it..
