Watching a match on DSF in German (sound off)
and listening to BBC radio commentary on 909mw

it's far from perfect but I reckon not insurmountable...........

I have some questions if anybody can help please .

    1. how can I delay the talk for a few seconds to let the picture catch up ?
    2. How can I get better medium wave reception ?
    3. Would DAB radio work in west Dublin ?

    Hi, answers in order
    1. I heard there was a delay unit but I've not seen a source for this

    2. You could use a long wire antenna and a communications receiver ( I presume commentary not available on sat?)

    3. DMC is the resident expert on DAB here

very difficult unless you have very narrow body lnbs, the alps is pretty small but i'm not even sure that will work

You want FM Quality audio, and you want it to be delayed
Perfect solution, listen to the real stream from www.bbc.co.uk

Not all football games are accessible on www.bbc.co.uk to an Irish audience.

There might be a sufficient delay on 5 Live, if you listened to it via Astra 28ºE on another receiver, rather than MW. (I assume if you already have a rig for DSF, you have something like a Sky digibox for Astra 2?)

DAB audio is as quick as, or if a little bit slower, than MW. Not much in it. But DAB is only available with a great view North, like Killiney and across the Dublin Mountains. Anywhere lower and DAB is not receivable.

I watched match on DSF last night and listened to 5 Live Radio commentary via Digibox. TV pictures were a few seconds behind audio.

Send the audio through a sound card using audio delay software:

    Or standalone device:

During the day if you face your radio in the direction of Liverpool and tune it to 990khz the signal will be a little weaker but no fadeing!!!

As DMC says listening to Radio 5 on sat is the way to do it, I know how you feel re the delay!!!

Keep us posted on how you get on!!!

I reckon something like a mini-itx board and the software above is the way to go if they don't get back to you.

does it come with a "Motherboards for Dummies" book ?

All the stuff is integrated into them, so it should be straightforward. Emphasis on should as I have no experience with them.

I bought an Asus Pundit over the xmas, with the intention of putting a DVB card into it and using it for MPEG 4:2:2 reception. Not ITX based, but very quiet all the same, and not too difficult to put in CPU, memory and drives.
