I just got a DVD RW at the weekend and installed it. seems to be working ok, but since then I havent been able to play any of my AVI files in media player of BS player. Not saying the two events are connected but seems strange. Any body have any similar experience or any idea how to fix it? I re-installed BS player but it done no good.

It would be strange for these to be connected... Did you install any software that came with your DVD-RW? Nero, In-CD, anything like that?

Anyway, instead of re-installing BS player, take a look at the codec used for your AVI files (you can get this from the file properties of one of the AVIs) - it will be something like DivX, Xvid more than likely... Once you know, go ahead and download and install the latest version of the codec you need.

the thing is the files were working fine before I installed the DVD RW. I got nero and installed that and that seems to be working fine. I wonder could it be connected to any options or preferences i chose when setting that up?

As I said in my previous reply - this probably has nothing to do with the DVD-RW itself but with any software installed with it. Some new editions of Nero have a media player (which I don't personally ever use) so that may have done something to your codecs.... Re-installing the codecs as suggested by most people here should sort it out if that was the case...
