Chemistry Question

    I am very sorry, I believe that this could be a very simple question but we have problems in class.

    FeSo4 + Zn -> Fe + ZnSo4 (please note, the 4's should be small)

    My questions is what is being reduced, and what is oxidised, I believed that this was happening (as it was in the relevent sectons), but our teacher who was revising it with us the previous week insisted that there was no oxidation or reduction taking place, any help would be excellent. Thanks.

    The Iron is being reduced and the zinc is being oxidised.

    Fe +2 -> Fe 0 Gain of two electrons, it is reduced
    Zn 0 -> Zn +2 Loss of two electrons, it is oxidised

    Thank you, I knew it would be strange to have a question where it didn't happen!
