I turned this on after seeing the add where the doc explained if you bend your middle finger as much as possible, then you can't move the tip, and i thought 'mmm, interesting'.. so i decided to turn it over...

I did not expect THAT... eewwww!!!!!! horrible, it didn't even look like a dead body at first, it was only when they started cutting it up that i realized.. so i quickly turned it over!!

i switched back a while later when they started to cut open the back, i didn't really mind that cos at that time it didn't really look like anythin, just a bit of meat.. but i had to turn it over again when thet started to the around the spinal colume with and electric saw thin cos my gf couldn't take it..

i wouldn't have liked to be one of the audience members, i assume they were med students??? the look on some of their faces:D

I had been looking forward to this program and parts of it were interesting, but overall it was fairly dull. It could have been so much better I think. The human body is the most marvellous thing in the world, and yet he very rarly showed us any of the wonder

Amazing programme especially when they had this the body veins of another corpse, which was injected with red silicone which went hard then they went about taking out what they didnt want and all they were left with was the veins.

This was just to show were our blood is pumped into the most smallest places.God When he cut the corspes throat to put a tube in to make the exposed lungs inflate with pumped air was amazing. But crystal maze bloke with hat(Dr.Gunther) was bit freaky.

That section of the program was amazing. You could see the high density of blood vessels in the fingertips and lips. The two-layer structure of blood vessels in the head was unreal

I thought it was an absolutely amazing program. Completely differant to anything that ive seen (or would expect) on a mainstream broadcast. At the start when the body was just laying there it didnt really register that it was a real human body, until he started to cut him right down the middle and pull him open.

the bright yellow fat was disgusting, there was so much of it and he didnt look like a fat guy.

There were really times when I heaved and thought I might loose my dinner, but it was so morbidly fascinating I couldnt turn it off. I genuinely enjoyed the science aspect of it.

The best/weirdest/most unlike what you think it would look like parts were when they inserted air into his trachea and inflated the lungs, that was just strange, and when the showed the body which just consisted of veins and it was still in a body shape (tough to describe if you havent seen it, but breathtaking) and when they showed a smokers lung compared to a non smokers lung (that came close to putting me off smoking for good)

and as for the naked asian chick, she was very "natural" wasnt she? youd think if you were going on tv youd get a haircut!

whens the next one on btw?

The bit where he was pulling the arm muscles and the hand closin into a fist fairly freaked me out. It's an interesting program, not done for shock value anyway.

There is a German Doctor/Artist that does this plastisination (don't know if that's the word) of the human body and exhibits his work. There was a big uproar a year or two ago when he brought his work to England.
The show is actually filmed in the University for this procedure.

He injects the plastic into every imaginable part of the human body even foetuses, which is why I think his work comes in for some much criticism. They showed tonight features his work demonstrated on a foetus AFAIK.

There is a disclaimer at the beginning of the show each night that says all the Bodies have been donated by Donors and that the audience is made up of an International audience Medical Students and Donors which would explain why the audience is almost equally divided between really old and the really young (well young students that is!!)

I watched the reproductive section tonight. DH did NOT like the scrotum being dissected ;) The english guy kept saying that you NEVER get used to watching that part of the body being dissected! I can't believe they actually thought there might be a 10 week foetus inside the uterus

Also, did you see the lad on that guy! How he managed to have a (cute) woman draw so close to his lad and not get an erection! Crazy!

    An amazing sequence of programs.

"...don't go mad if your gonads are unfortunately hung
they're for breeding with your partner
while your breathing through your lungs..."

we have to disect bodys as part of anatomy in college and its fairly accurate as to what they showed on that program.

only thing they missed on is the terrible smell(which is worse then seeing the bodys themselves). all physios/speech therapists/dentists/radiotherapists/meds/occupational therapists have to dissect bodies as part of their anatomy course.

in TCD we even have an old museum of dead human "parts" from over the years(some as old as 200yrs), eg old feet(which have turned black), a babys head split in two, etc, etc. its just behing the pav in the anatomy building. fairely disgusting, much worse them anything you could see on the tv(ohh and they keep the organs in buckets under the cadavra/corpse tables!).

Oh dear God... I've had the same thing happen to me tonight. :(
Sitting there eating some late night noodles, flicking through the channels and oop! there we go... a dead body with half the skin cut off his chest... lovely.
I really don't want to see this shít, if you want to show disturbing footage at least make it S&M midget scat porn so I can get off while I'm being disturbed.

I really enjoyed this set of programs. It's the sort of reality TV that should be watched. People coming on and saying it's disgusting is a bit sad: I mean shouldn't every human at least have a basic knowledge of what it is goes on inside our bodies?
As for the smell, you have to remember that all except the first body specimen were plastinated, and the first body was pretty fresh.
I had to feel sorry for the female artist drawing the male reproductive system on the male model trying to keep a staright face and avoid contact, and respect to the guy for keeping himself "composed" :D

Kinda OT but related: did anyone happen to catch the thing on on C4 last week sometime (Sunday?) about fat fetish? Now that was f***in' disgusting. can't remember the name, something about feeding or similar. It came with a "Viewers may be disturbed etc..." warning and frankly it needed it. I turned over after 5 minutes. Give me good old corpses any day...

And most people do, from textbook diagrams, just ask any leaving cert biology student how many corpses they had to dissect ;)
I reserve the right to be creeped out by this program on the grounds that I find it creepy.
My morbid curiosity only afforded me ~10 seconds of viewing, most of which was spent trying to figure out of it was a real corpse.
I think I've got a phobia of death, since even going to a cemetary creeps the shít out of me for the rest of the day.
