    Hi,

    Thanks!

The MS Word Reader is free also, available from Microsoft's site somewhere.

OpenOffice is the closest to MS Word and will allow creation of docs (and powerpoint presentations and spreadsheets). Abi sucked last time I used it but that was a couple of years back.

Abi has improved a lot lately, plus its a much smaller download

Here's a review comparing it to MS Word

I'm trying to open the David Hasselhoff calendar that's doing the rounds (attached, if you haven't seen it) but it won't display properly. The pictures are OK in OpenOffice O1.1.4 but the dates are all mangled. Only the first month opens in AbiWord.
We're still a good way off replacing Word for good, it seems.

Has anyone tried OO version 2 Beta? I'm tempted to try it (only cause I want the Hoff on every wall in my house, you understand), but can't be bothered if I know it's not going to be compatible.

ack, attachment is too big, although others have managed to upload it before.... It's in the forums forum anyway.
