Decided to take the big step and stick up some pics on the web for the first time. All photos were taken in Thailand two weeks before the Tsunami.

Let me know what ye think and i am well up for some constructive criticism.

    John.

The first shot is overexposed - you should perhaps photoshop it a bit.

The second and fourth shots are great - I love that Karst lansdcape...the mountains are just such mad shapes.

    Cheers for the replies lads.

I only used photoshop to resize the pics. They were taken on a cheap kodak 3.2 Mega Pixel camera that i picked up in Sydney, only had automatic settings so i couldnt do any manual adjustments when taking shots.

from a holiday snapshot point of view they're fine, they capture your memories of where you were.

from a fine art point of view they aren't all that good in my opinion. big areas with no focal points in the foregrounds, some overexposure in the first shot. in landscapes don't put the focal point in the centre of the picture as it doesn't give any sense of scale or perspective to the shots. the rule of thirds is a very useful tip. put the areas you want people to look at a third up , down and a third into the right or left.
have a look at http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=3053526 and http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=3060109 for very well composed landscapes of sunsets and the sea
