Getting a shaver to cut your own hair?

I was thinking of getting a shaver to cut my own hair. I normally get a 2 blade at the back and a 4 balde elsewhere.

Do people botch it up if they do a DIY job.

I get my girlfriend to cut my hair, i wouldnt advise doing it yourself as it can be quiet easy to fook it up

much better then going to the hair dresses and having nothing to talk about with the football mad local hairdresser (i know nothing of football). for like 8e

i bought a set in roches stores for about 18 quid in the sales, comes with 1-5 blades, comb etc...

i have cut me own hair mostly get my sister to do it, never made many mistakes, the blade and mirror take cares most of it

If you just shave the same length all over it's a piece of piss. It can be slightly harder for different lengths in different areas. You'll have to fight off the temptation to just shave it all off of course, I hadn't mine long before I went bald for the sake of convenience.

Ye 1 all over is how you end up, it's just easier and cheaper going the DIY route. Don't worry about messing it up just do a 2 alll over and no-one will tell be able to tell the difference.

I got a shaver in boots about 6 years ago and haven't looked back since. I recently got a cordless one which doesn't need the blades oiled, and its made things even easier.

I use to have a 4 on top and 2 on the back and sides, but now i just do a 2 all over which takes no time at all.

Definitely go for it. I have been doing it for about 2 years now. I use a blade on sides and back and then I trim the top with scissors, all solo. I just go into the bathroom (I also have a cordless) put mirror on side of bath against wall and lean my head over bath, then just clean up the hairs and wash the small bits down the drain. Takes maybe 40 mins total. Compared to going to hairdressers, waiting and then coming home. And not to mention when they say "now is that ok" well what else can you say buy yeah, they can hardly put the hair back on!

When I tell people they are shocked because they say you I do a really good job, well it's easy anyway! It would be allot easier to just do a blade all over, but I don't want that.

One thing though, I have a remington and lost my 18mm attachment (the one I use) so if anyone has a spare, please let me know and I'll send you back a spare of the one you use:)

Defo recomend this. Ive been doing this for quite a while now. I cut it myself but just do the same length all over. Usually a one but Ive cut it down to a bare blade in the past too. Bit too cold at the moment for that. I started doing it while living in Germany cos its very expensive for a lad to get his hair cut there. Saves a LOT of cash. Especially if your hair grows fast like mine.

Cormie - I'll have a look when I get home...

Cool thanks allot, hair needs a cut so the minute I get it it's going on the shaver. What one do you use?

Please see attached image just to make sure we have the same blades as different products have different blades. This is the remington 12mm blade attachment:) Hopefully you have the same in 18mm:)
