Yea, should do, they normally have clips in them to load the disks in. Maybe a stupid question, but what not get a desktop?!

You will easily be able to find a cheap and chearful vertical tower for around that price.

The point he's making is that Towers are cheaper then desktops... But he is required to place the Tower on the side and wants to know will the DVD drive work if this is the case. The answer is yes.

Ohh right, completly misread the thread. If you get a case with 3 spaces for optical drives you should be able to fit the DVD drive the right way up in the space.

Just check when purchasing the DVD writer. It should specify in the tech specs/data sheet if it supports vertical loading.

As for them being cheaper I wouldn't agree. You can get a cheap desktop for fairly little. It'd be MicroATX though. I'm quite sure they're cheaper than any tower also (last time I looked anyhow).
