I need some advice about asking a girl out in college. I just don't know how to go about doing it.

Ok heres the prob : I'm in first year and there are 130 people in my course so its not like everyones knows everyone. I always sit with my friends and she sits with hers ie shes never on her own. Theres no way I'd be able to go up to her and ask her out in front of all her friends. I've had girlfriends before but I've been single for almost a year now so confidence in this area is a little low.

And if she says no I'm gonna be pretty down seeing her for the next 2 years :)

Why don't you bring your friends over to her friends and you can all hang out and that way you can get an opportunity to talk to this girl?
Never underestimate the power of having wingmen!

Just make sure the rest of them know to let you have this particular girl!

    Class party?

Organise a class night out. It doesn't take much effort, just pick a date and venue and send a mail to everyone in the class. If you've got class reps you could even annoy them about it until they do it. You're expected to mingle and get to know everyone at these things. You just go over and start talking to her and her friends. If you get on ok, ask her out.

i am pointing out the fact that he dosnt have a clue about lack of confidence. He said that because he'd been single for ONE ****ING YEAR that his confidence was low......he dosnt have a clue how low it can go.

Actually, I agree wit ferdi on this one. I didn't even kiss a girl til I was 18 and a half... But since then it's all gravy, so :D

But anyway, back to the problem at hand...

It's what happens if she says yes that should worry ya:

I went out wit a girl in my course in college, had a messy break-up (long story made short - she hates my guts), and thus it's a helluva lot more awkward in lectures now... And I've still got another year to go

But I spose that's a worst-case scenario, so go for it. You don't wanna hav any regrets in the future when u look back at these times...

Ferdi, chill the bean....just because he feels he has no confidence dosen't mean he should want to top himself or anything, obviously most situations could be worse..................anyway, i have to agree with Mr.Nice guy, you don't want to make a knob out of yourself just asking a random girl out for a drink if you've never really talked to/ met her, even if she did think you were hot she'd prob say no, it all comes down to how close are you with your college mates, explain the situation to them....you have to infeltrate her ranks of friends first, get your mates chattin to her mates, get to know some of her mates, eventually arrange with your current mates (the insiders of your diabolical scheme) to organise a night out with the lot of you....and there you go mate, if you can pull off the moves, thats the perfect time to go for it.....word of warning though when doing this (as it has back fired badly on me before, lol :D) make sure you dont leave it to long untill you fit into the "friends" catagorey, also, make sure you don't get any of her mates to fancy you or it could all go pair shaped, when the minger mate is gettin on really well with ya, don't give her any suspicion you might like her.....other than that, just go for it man, i've been shot down by girls in college loads, but i've also done really well for myself too, it's all in your head, fear of rejection blah blah, once you get past that and time these things properly nobody really gives a crap if you try and fale.....at least you gave it a shot, and if she does shoot you down at least she'll know you're interested, and maybe change her mind eventually...........i find a few sambucas at the bar and half a gramme of rohipnol can be fairly persuassive myself!!! :D

Go up to her, try to make a conversation and if she responds, you well you will know if it was worth it and if she tells you to **** off, you will know that you are better off not being friends with someone like that. There is also a girl in one of my lectures who is frickin' *HOT* and she always sits by herself and I'm gonna someday talk to her but she isn't interested its her loss and that is the attitude you should take. I haven't had a girl myself in quite a while and since I've gone to college any attempt to be friendly to females has been met with polite **** offs. Yes it get me down a bit coz I'm more trying to make friendships rather than relationships and I think girls immediately think that if start taking to them you're only after one thing but the old saying goes when all else fails persistance prevails!

Try and score her on a night about before any talk of 'going out'. You'll probably seem like a stalker.
On a side note Zane, I would figure these women are probably snubbing you because they realise you dont want to be friends but more? That might explain it or maybe you're just boring.

    Sangre, you're boring me.

Unfortunately I go to a university where the female population are covered by fake tan, bleached blonde hair, all wear pink t-shirts and have no individuality so the problem is not with me!
