Hi I know very little regarding this subject so please excuse my ignorance

I just have a few queries regarding Sky Digital, I'm moving into a new house soon and I may get Digital installed as ntl do not service Wicklow town (I think) Anyway here are my queries

1.I want to use a sky freesat card so I'm going to purchase a separate digibox for the freesat card (so the missus won't pester me about stupid soaps when the footie is on) Ebay looks a good option for getting a used box! What make of digibox would be a good option for just freesat use?

2.When getting sky installed will the person installing give me an lnb (I think that's it's name) that will allow me to connect the two Digiboxes to the satellite?

    Regards

Panasonic boxes are prob the most reliable with the current Pace model proving to be AOK too .

When ordering your sky connection , order from an independant dealer and explain your requirment for a second lnb/box , ( quad lnb with 4 outputs ) They should be able to quote you for extra labour etc. required .

Cheers mate! also if I bought the quad lnb from ebay would it work out cheaper then buying from the independent dealer? Although would he install it if I provided it?

Unless the price is over the top I would buy from the installer that way you should get full warranty IE he cannot blame the quad if it goes wrong.

ain't that the truth. It's so much handier when your suppliers can't fob the problem elsewhere. Don't forget the install will cost a bit more since four cables will be needed from the lnb to where-ever.

    Hi lads

I'm just monitoring ebay at the moment for a receiver exclusively for Freesat!!! Would some of the cheaper brands like Grundig or Amstrad do a good job?

I would say no, try for a late pace or panasonic model if you are going to use a FTV card or there are even cheaper FTA receivers about for non FTV use. If LIDl still has some the price cannot be beaten

I agree with Tony, avoid the Grundig, Amstrad, and also the Pace 2200 and 2500 models.
