Any recommendations for a dish for multi-lnb's? Moving into a new house soon, and been talked into leaving the old (inherited ex sky analogue) one there for the outlaws FTA set up.

I want it for the basic multi sat set-up - Hotbird, Astra 1 and Astra 2. Motor isn't really an option at the moment, and I'm not sure of the sight lines yet anyway (but should be okay for the above).

Will any 80cm or bigger dish do, or should I be looking for an elliptical design?

Can I ask why motor is not an option ? may actually work out cheaper than multi lnb set up

heres a good one from visiosat of france

They have a dish called BiSat which designed for multisat viewing. You're looking for the BISAT G3 which is for the satellite you asked for.

What's the point having multi lnb's? Diseq motor is much better . You can move to any bird and not limit your self to Hotbird/astra. It will be just as easy to setup and reception will be much better as the dish will be pointing 100% at the bird unlike multi lnb where you can only use a % of the dish surface.

    How many birds ? 4 ? 4 x Lnb @ €30 each = $120

Diseq motor = €100 ( can't remember how much but in or around ) .

Basically, can only afford one set up at the moment, and have to have the missus able to watch off astra 2 while I'm playing. I may leave it given the advice here and wait and until I can afford a two dish/ one motor set up...

I see you point regarding cost but it depends what you want. If you want to get feeds too, then yes a motorized system is the one but if your just going to watch the popular digital packages(TPS, D+ Sky Italia etc) then get a disqc swich as it is FAR quicker between changing channels. Infact from the viewers point of view, all the channels seem like they are on the same satellite. While with a motorized system you have to wait for the dish to move to the satillite.

The advantage of the bisat3 is you can stick 28e on it too so you have only 1 dish instead of 2. It is not wise to have Sky Digital on a motorised system as you can screw up any software upgrade (which happends at any time) and can damage the receiver.

you raise some excellent points, I guess if astra2/1 and hotbird are all you want to see then a diseq switch is much faster
