Have a problem and I am hoping someone can help.

My CD drive is giving me hassel. I have a Dell 4100 with cd DVD combo drive running Windows ME, and i cannot get the CD drive to work. I have tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it, installing new drivers, i thought it may be a virus so i added my external cd drive and after a bit of hassel got it working and installed new virus software etc and only little crappy virus came up, nothing major that would cause the problem.

no matter what i have tried i keep getting the error "Insert disc in drive..", i have tried to get at it from the dos prompt with no success. if i right click on the drive and check the properties i can eject the drive, look at its properties etc which means that it is recognising the drive.

    really appreciate any help... cheers
